1. History

Erstwhile this royal carriage was used by the Rajput kings, Nizams, and Nawabs for the purpose of travelling from one destination to the other. Post independence, this luxury train was renovated and furnished with modern comforts.

Thereafter, this train took its maiden journey in the year 1982. All the cabins of the train were decorated according to the traditional theme of India. Further, adornments like Persian carpets and sparkling chandeliers were also added to beautify the train.

The train consists of 14 coaches, all decorated according to the traditional theme reflecting the glimpses of earlier princely states. Henceforth, the cabins were named after them. There are 4 cabins in each coach and equipped with all modern facilities like satellite TV, WI-Fi connectivity, attached bathroom, air-condition, dressing or writing table, and various similar.

There also are 2 restaurant cars, a well-stocked bar, a lounge area and a wellness center to take care of the guests and their preferences.

The Maharaja and the Maharani are the two well-furnished restaurants onboard. These restaurants are decorated traditionally providing the feel of the erstwhile royal era of India. The restaurants serve both Indian as well as international cuisines to meet the varied preferences of the guests.

In addition to this, the traditional Rajasthani decoration of the restaurants is praiseworthy. There also is a well-stocked bar where the guests could choose from the collection of liquors.
